Axiom Legal Financing Fund
In or about 2012, Axiom was incorporated in the Cayman Islands and operated by investment manager, Tangerine Investment Management Limited – also incorporated in the Cayman Islands. The Insurers accepted Axiom onto the Bond platform in or about 2012, after conducting a due diligence.
Brandeaux Student Accommodation Fund
Brandeaux Student Accommodation was a fund that aimed to invest in properties specifically designed for student housing. The fund was launched by Brandeaux, a UK-based property investment management company. Brandeaux Student Accommodation Fund attracted investors by offering the potential for steady income from rental yields and capital appreciation in the student housing market.
Columna Commodities Fund
The Columna Commodities Fund was a Luxembourg-domiciled investment fund that was launched in 2006. The fund was marketed as a way for investors to gain exposure to a variety of commodity-linked assets, but it has since been alleged that the fund was actually a scam.
Eco Resources Fund
Premier Group – which went into voluntary liquidation in November 2016 – was the promoter and manager of Eco-Resources Fund, which it set up to invest in bamboo plantations in Nicaragua and South Africa through its wholly-owned subsidiary ERF Limited and the latter’s minority shareholding in EcoPlanet Bamboo IOM Limited.
Kijani Commodity Fund
The Kijani Commodity Fund is the largest cell within Brighton SPC, a Cayman Islands-based fund. The fund had positive returns for investors in 49 of the 51 months it was trading, which was attributed to strategies such as commodity trading arbitrage. It was seized by Cayman authorities for an inability to verify its assets in June 2015.
LM MPF Managed Performance Fund
Between 2009 and 2013, LM Investments Pty Ltd (LM), was the fund manager of LM Managed Performance Fund (LM/MPF) (Gold Coast Australia). LM/MPF was approved by the Insurers, to be placed on the Bond platform and recommended to the IFAs as intermediaries for the Insurers. The IFAs recommended investment in the LM/MPF and other LM products to clients between 2009 and 2013. As Bond holders, these clients were also clients of the Insurers.
Lucent Strategic Land Fund
In the realm of investment, the Lucent Strategic Land Fund once held the promise of bringing commercial relationships, expert knowledge, and vital funding to the doorstep of local businesses in the UK. However, the narrative took a dramatic turn, leading to the suspension of the fund and raising concerns about its investments, particularly the Lincolnshire Lakes property development.
Madison Student Accommodation Fund
The Madison Student Accommodation Fund was launched in 2007 with the noble objective of capitalizing on the burgeoning demand for student housing in Australia. With the number of domestic and international students on the rise, the fund seemed poised for success, backed by Babcock & Brown’s reputation as a global investment and advisory firm.
KMG SICAV – SIF – GB Strategic Land Fund:
It was a strategic land fund, likely investing in land for development purposes in Great Britain. The fund was managed by KMG SICAV-SIF SA, a Luxembourg-based company. A legal case from 2023 (East Riding of Yorkshire Council v KMG SICAV-SIF-GB Strategic Land Fund) suggests the fund might have faced financial difficulties and potentially faced a winding-up order from a creditor.
New Earth Group of Funds
New Earth Solutions Group Limited (the Group) is an established UK provider of waste treatment facilities and is developing complementary operations in the renewable energy sector. Waste treatment services are provided by New Earth Solutions Facilities Management Limited (New Earth Solutions), whilst New Earth Energy Facilities Management Limited (New Earth Energy) focuses on projects to recover low-carbon renewable energy from waste-derived fuels. Both of these sectors are dynamic, fast-growing, and in need of substantial investment in infrastructure and services.
